Why WBN Created LinkCast™
WBN created LinkCast™ because communities contain thousands of valuable resources that are often difficult to find, fragmented across multiple websites, or simply unknown to the people who could benefit from them.
Many residents are unaware of available services, support programs, volunteer opportunities, community organizations, discounts, recreation programs, public resources, educational tools, and local initiatives that could improve their quality of life. Information exists, but it is frequently scattered across government websites, community organizations, social media platforms, newsletters, directories, and independent websites.
Our strategy is to create a centralized community resource ecosystem that helps residents discover useful information while supporting the organizations that provide those resources. By combining community submissions, editorial oversight, and the Resource Discovery Engine™, LinkCast™ helps surface valuable community assets that might otherwise remain hidden.
LinkCast™ strengthens WBN’s mission of helping communities become more informed, connected, and resourceful while making it easier for organizations to increase awareness of the services and opportunities they provide.
LinkCast™ Within WBN Community OS™
Within the WBN Community OS™, LinkCast™ serves as the Community Resource Layer™.
Each platform within the ecosystem focuses on a different type of information:
- PaperCast™ discovers stories.
- EventCast™ discovers events.
- DirectoryCast™ discovers businesses and organizations.
- PromptCast™ discovers prompts and practical knowledge.
- Marketplace™ discovers products, services, and offers.
- LinkCast™ discovers resources.
LinkCast™ often acts as a bridge between the other platforms by helping residents discover the organizations, services, and information that support community life.
For example, PaperCast™ may publish a story about a local food bank. EventCast™ may publish a fundraiser hosted by that food bank. DirectoryCast™ may contain the organization’s profile. LinkCast™ provides direct access to the food bank itself as a community resource.
Together, the platforms create a more complete digital representation of community life.
How LinkCast™ Differs From DirectoryCast™
This distinction is important because the two platforms may appear similar at first glance.
DirectoryCast™ focuses on businesses, professionals, organizations, and service providers. It is entity-focused.
- Accountants
- Lawyers
- Realtors
- Restaurants
- Contractors
- Retailers
- Non-profits
LinkCast™ focuses on resources that help residents solve problems, access services, discover opportunities, or navigate community life. It is resource-focused.
- BC Housing
- Delta Food Bank
- City of Delta Services
- Volunteer Programs
- Library Systems
- Recreation Resources
- Community Facebook Groups
- Farmers Markets
- Public Safety Resources
- Tourism Resources
While some overlap may exist, DirectoryCast™ helps people find providers, while LinkCast™ helps people find resources.
The Resource Discovery Engine™
The Resource Discovery Engine™ is one of the most important strategic components of LinkCast™ and a key differentiator from traditional directories and resource lists.
Most directories rely entirely on organizations submitting their information. LinkCast™ takes a more proactive approach by actively identifying useful community resources and routing them through an editorial workflow before publication.
The Resource Discovery Engine™ is designed to monitor government websites, community organizations, libraries, recreation providers, educational institutions, tourism organizations, volunteer organizations, chambers of commerce, community groups, public service agencies, resource directories, community newsletters, and trusted social media sources.
Potential resources are gathered and placed into the Discovery Queue™ where editors can review, verify, categorize, enrich, and publish them.
This process helps ensure that valuable community resources are not missed while reducing the burden on organizations that may not know about LinkCast™ or have the time to submit information directly.
Over time, the Resource Discovery Engine™ becomes a powerful community intelligence system that helps identify service gaps, emerging community needs, support opportunities, partnership opportunities, and resource trends across the WBN ecosystem.
Monetization Strategy
LinkCast™ is designed to operate on a community-first freemium model that provides broad public access while creating sustainable revenue opportunities for WBN and its publishing partners.
Most community resources remain freely accessible because the primary mission of LinkCast™ is to improve resource discovery and community awareness.

Action Items For Publishers
Publishers play a critical role in the success of LinkCast™.
Each publisher is encouraged to actively build and curate a comprehensive resource ecosystem for their community by identifying useful resources, establishing relationships with organizations, encouraging submissions, and helping residents discover available opportunities.
Publishers should work closely with municipal governments, chambers of commerce, community organizations, libraries, recreation departments, volunteer groups, tourism organizations, educational institutions, health organizations, non-profits, and community leaders.
Publishers are also encouraged to strengthen the Resource Discovery Engine™ by continuously identifying new sources, websites, newsletters, directories, and organizations that can contribute to the Discovery Queue™ workflow.
By helping discover, verify, organize, and publish community resources, publishers strengthen both LinkCast™ and the broader WBN Community OS™ ecosystem while creating a valuable public asset that helps residents solve problems, access services, discover opportunities, and become more connected to the communities in which they live.
Strategic Positioning
LinkCast™ should become one of the foundational layers of the WBN Community OS™ because before people discover stories, events, businesses, products, or prompts, they often need to discover the resources that make a community function.
LinkCast™ is the community navigation system for the entire ecosystem.
